If you’ve ever travelled on NH7, you’ll be mesmerized by how well this road is maintained. This is the longest highway in India that spreads over 4,572 kms all the way from Varanasi to Kanyakumari. The network of highways in India is large with a total of 79,243 kms of land covered by them. There is also a 100 km stretch in India that is a limited access highway. While NH7 is the longest highway at the moment, plans to create the new NH44 that will run from Kaniyakumari to Srinagar will make this the new longest highway in India.

2. The Most Well Maintained National Expressway

The Ahmedabad to Vadodara Expressway in India is one of the best expressways you’ll find. This tar road is smooth and beautiful and driving here is sheer pleasure. The road is referred to as National Expressway 1 and is a 95 km long expressway that connects the highway from Ahmadabad to Vadodara. This expressway was constructed by the NHAI in the year 2004 under the Golden Quadrilateral Project.

3. Longest Freeway Which Is Elevated

If you’re in Chennai, make sure you check out the Port Maduravoyal Elevated Expressway. This freeway is a 19 km long stretch which is elevated. The expressway is near completion. It will connect Maduravoyal Junction with National Highway 4.

4. World’s Largest Magnificent Cloverleaf Interchange

This is a road you have to travel on to witness its execution and planning that is remarkable. The Kathipara Junction of Chennai is the largest cloverleaf exchange in Asia.

5. Largest Flyover In Urban India

Indian civil engineers sure know how to stand out with their constructions and the Hebbal Flyover in Bangalore sets an example of such creations. This is the largest flyover in the urban cities of India that is spread over 5.23 kms. It has an amazing serpentine maze that makes it look beautiful. This flyover connects the Outer Ring Road and the Bellary Road in Bangalore. It is one of the most prominent works of the Indian civil engineers.

The Mahatma Gandhi river road bridge is constructed over the river Ganges in Bihar. This bridge is 5.5 km in length and has a 4 lane roadway. It is the largest river road in India and also the world. This bridge is magnificent and very well constructed.

7. Longest Sea Bridge

The Bandra Worli Sea Link which is situated in Mumbai is a 22km long stretch of land that has been constructed over the sea. This bridge is cable strayed with multiple steel rods that weigh as much as 50,000 elephants. The bridge is a magnificent creation which took around 9 years to complete. It is one of the busiest sea bridges that has saved on the travel time for a large number of people. If you ever get a chance to visit Mumbai, make sure you come and check out the bridge.
