Ajay Devgan aka Vishal Veeru Devgan is an Indian film actor, producer and director. He is widely known among the most popular actors in Indian cinema. He won several awards, including 2 National awards. He is the son of action film director Veeru Devgan. He made his debut in Phool Aur Kaante (1991) and got Filmfare Award for his performance in the category of Best Male Debut. Then he starred in several highest grosser films like Dilwale (1994), Jigar (1992), Diljale (1996), Naajayaz (1995), and Ishq (1997). He appeared in drama Zakhm, directed by Mahesh Bhatt and got critically appraised for his performance. He got the first National Film award of his career for Best Actor in Zakhm. He appeared in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999).
In early 2000s, he was critically acclaimed for his excellent role in fictional Mumbai underworld drama, Company, directed by Ram Gopal Verma. He portrayed a gangster in the film for which he bagged Filmfare Critics Award for the category of Best Actor. Later he gave yet another excellent performance in Deewangee and he got Filmfare Awards for Best Villain category. In 2003, he bagged another National Film award for the category of Best Actor by portraying the legendary freedom-fighter Bhagat Singh in “The Legend of Bhagat Singh”, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. He has performed in several commercially and critically successful films in his career.

Some of his most successful films are Yuva (2004), Gangaajal (2004), Raincoat (2004), Omkara (2006), Apharan (2005), Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai (2010), Singham series, Golmaal Series, Son of Sardaar (2012), and Drishyam (2015). He starred in around 80 Hindi films. He is one of the most appraised actors in Bollywood and he has established uncontroversial image in industry. He also established his own production house, Ajay Devgn Films. He gave his debut as a director in 2008 with U Me Aur Hum. In 1999, he married the beautiful film actress, Kajol and has two children.
He was born to a Delhi-based Punjabi family and his origin is Amritsar. The family is connected to Indian film industry. Veeru Devgan is an action film director and stunt choreographer and his mom, Veena is also a film producer. He has a sibling – Anil Devgn, a film director. He graduated from Mithibai College and he did his schooling in Silver Beach High School, Juhu.
In 1995, he met Kajol and the couple got into relationship while co-starring in Gundaraj. They were known as the “Unlikely Pair” by the media because of their contrasting personality. On February 24, 1999, the couple got married at Devgan Home in a customary Maharashtrian ceremony. They have two children – son born in 2010 and daughter born in 2003. On request of the family, he changed the spelling of his surname from Devgan to Devgn. He was the first celebrity in Bollywood who owned a private jet for commuting to shooting locations, for personal trips and promotions.

He founded Ajay Devgn Films in 2000 and launched the first film, Raju Chacha. He was the part of writers’ team in the drama film, U Me Aur Hum. The film is about a woman (Kajol) who has the problem of memory loss. Sometimes, he also forgets who her husband is. It is described as a well-produced, absorbing love story with great emotional quotient, by a well-known film critic, Taran Adarsh. He released his another production in 2009, All The Best: Fun Begins, directed by Rohit Shetty, starring Sanjay Dutt, Devgn, Bipasha Basu, Fardeen Khan, and Mugdha Godse. It was the 9th top-grossing film of the year 2009.
