McCoy played high school football at Southeast High School in Oklahoma City for the Southeast Spartans and completed in track. He scored around 83 tackles, along with 20 sacks and 23 tackles for loss. As a junior, he was named all-state, all-area and all-metro in the year 2004. He logged 20 sacks, 82 tackles and got 9 fumbles. Including USA Today’s National Defensive Player of the Year 2005, he received several awards.
