India’s Got Talent is a reality show on television that was founded by Sakib Zakir Ahmed and is part of the British Got Talent global franchise. This is collaboration between Colors and Britain’s Fremantle Media. India’s Got Talent started in 2009 and follows the global format of Got Talent. This format requires contestants to audition in front of three judges and an audience in the studio. Until the semifinal rounds, the judges have the power to decide whether a contestant goes through the next round of gets eliminated. The semifinal and final rounds are decided on the basis of votes received from the viewers.
The winner of season one was Prince Dance Group. This was the first group to win the title of IGT and the dance group soon became very popular. They are trained under T. Krishna Mohan Reddy who is the leader of the dance group that hails from Odisha. There were a total of 56 dance members. Two of of these 56 members were handicapped. While the group won Rs. 50 lack as the prize for winning the show, the government of Odisha announced that it would aid them with Rs. 2 Crore and 4 acres of land to build their dance academy.
Shillong Chamber Choir won the second season of IGT. This is a choir based in Shillong that had mesmerized everyone with their voice. Since they won India’s Got Talent, they have become a popular name all over the world. The Shillong Chamber Choir has performed at the Choir games held in China and won the gold in all three categories which include Musica Sacra, Gospel and Popular.
