When asked by India Today to make a short film based on the theme “India Tomorrow”, Imtiaz Ali came up with his masterpiece ‘My Dream”. The director who has gained international acclaims for his series of Romance dramas like Jab We Met, Tamasha and Highway; has left everyone spellbound with this social spirit awakening piece from his desk. This short film has successfully visualized the views of the present generation and their positivity and urge of coloring with nation with the same notion.
This five-minute piece was premiered at the India Today Conclave 2016 series with the theme ‘India Tomorrow”. Within only 24hours of its premiere, My Dream has successfully garnered nearly 2.4lakh views. When asked for his valuable comments at the press meet, Ali said that he has taken up this forum for reaching out the digital world to the doors of the public so that they develop a stable conversation with those interested. He has reported to believe that this is high time to bring out the social concerns into limelight and arouse the public interest for the same ensuring a better nation for the future generation and days to come.
My Dream is all about the story of a young sex worker who is suddenly interrupted by a phone call in between her service to her client. The call brings to her the news of the stock market crash and the share prices. While her client gets panic stricken by this misfortune; the lady suggests him to make investment in blue-chip shares rather than selling off all assets to cope with the situation. Upon realizing the educational potential of the sex worker who offer service at a per hour charge, the man asks the lady to switch to the profession of an investment banker. The story follows further with the next move of this lady which keeps everyone spell bound. Ali has used this film as a tool for questioning people whether it is reliable to pass on the vague judgmental comments on each and every activity a person commits! With the unexpected challenges of life; the choices often turn out complex.
