Dhoni became the captain of team India in South Africa for the inaugural ICC World T20 in September 2007. Under his captaincy, the team was crowned champions and win against Pakistan. He became the ODI captain of team India against Australia for 7-match ODI series in September 2007. He made debut as Test captain on his 4th and final Test in Nagpur against Australia in November 2008 and replaced Anil Kumble who announced his retirement and injured in third test.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni was born on 7th July 1981 in Ranchi, Jharkhand (Then in Bihar) in a Rajput family. In Ranchi, his father Pan Singh served in MECON in junior management. Dhoni has a brother Narendra Singh Dhoni and sister Jayanti Gupta. In childhood, his role models were legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar and Superstar of the Millennium Amitabh Bachchan, as well as his teammate Sachin Tendulkar. He is a big fan of Adam Gilchrist. After his 10th standard, Dhoni focused on cricket. From 2001 to 2003, he was a TTE (Train Ticket Examiner) at Kharagpur station. He was a very straightforward, honest employee in Indian Railways. Today, he is the richest sportsman in the world.
