OnePlus 2 Review

OnePlus 2 ReviewBack in 2014 when OnePlus was actually formed in collaboration with Cyanogen, everyone went pretty excited. The company also promised for making some extraordinary handsets that were meant to kill the current market flagships, and was popularly addressed as ‘flagship killer’. The first OnePlus One handset surely did kill the current flagships of that time; the OnePlus 2 couldn’t exactly stay on path. But nevertheless, the OnePlus 2 is one great handset from the 2015 and will certainly occupy a prolonged period time in 2016 for sure. We have taken a brief look on the 16 GB variant.

Hardware

The update from the OnePlus One to OnePlus 2 is pretty prominent. The hardware upgrade is properly done.

Processor

The CPU has been upgraded to Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810; the earlier OnePlus One variant had used Snapdragon 801 as the SoC. However, the number of cores in this OnePlus One handset is eight. The GPU on OnePlus 2 is Adreno 430; that provides stunning performance on media playback and of course, gaming.

Storage

The handset comes in two memory options – 16 GB and 64 GB; in this review we are covering the 16 GB version. The RAM capacity differs in these two memory variants – because the 16 GB OnePlus 2 variant has 3 GB of RAM and the 64 GB variant has 4 GB of RAM. People who require more power and faster multitasking capabilities shouldn’t opt for anything but the 64 GB version, however for regular usage even the 16 GB version with 3 GB RAM is just fine.

There’s no external memory card slot.

Display

OnePlus 2 is a huge smartphone with 5.5 inches display. The outer dimensions are almost as same as the Samsung Galaxy Note 5; only the display in Note 5 is 0.2 cm bigger. However, the 5.5 inch display is an IPS LCD panel with 1080×1920 pixels resolution, offering 401 ppi pixel density and it’s covered by Gorilla Glass 4.
