Sridevi aka Sridevi Kapoor was born on August 13, 1963 to Tamil father Shree Yanger Ayyapan and Telugu mother Rajeshwari, in Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu. She is a Bollywood film actress who worked in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Telugu films. She is the first lady superstar in Indian cinema. Her father was an attorney and she has two step brothers and a sister. During 1980s, she was dating actor Mithun Chakraborty. They got into relationship on the sets of Jaag Utha Insan by Rakesh Roshan. They were rumored to marry without telling anyone. Later Mithun revealed to the press when their marriage certificate was published by a fan magazine. Sridevi married the elder brother of Sanjay Kapoor and Anil Kapoor, and a film producer Boney Kapoor in 1996. The couple has two daughters, Khushi and Jahnvi.

She started her career at the very young age of 4 years as a child artist in devotional film Thunaivan, directed by M.A. Thirumugham. She continued as a child artist in her career in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam films. As a child artist, she made her debut in Bollywood in Julie (1975). At the age of 13 years, she played her first role in adult avatar in Moondru Mudichu (1976). She subsequently established herself among the lead actress of Telugu and Tamil cinema with her roles. Some of her successful films were Sigappu Rojakkal (1978), 16 Vayathinile (1977), Moondram Pirai (1982), Meendum Kokila(1981), Premabhishekam (1981), Varumayin Niram Sivappu (1980), Jagadeka Veerudu Atiloka Sundari (1990), Aakhari Poratam (1988) and Kshana Kshanam (1991).
She made her entry in Bollywood as leading lady in Solva Saawan (1978) and gained huge fame with Himmatwala (1983). She appeared in several commercially hit fils like Tohfa (1984), Mawaali (1983), Karma (1986), Masterji (1985), Mr. India (1987), Chandni (1989) and got critical appreciation for films like Nagina (1986), Sadma (1983), Lamhe (1991), Chaalbaaz (1989), Gumrah (1993), Khuda Gawah (1992), Judaai (1997) and Laadla (1994).
In 2012, Sridevi made a comeback after 15 long years with commercially successful film English Vinglish. She has been awarded with Padma Shri in 2013 by the Government of India. In a CNN IBN National poll 2013, she was voted for India’s Greatest Actress of the Century on the Centenary of Indian Cinema. She is the winner of 5 Filmfare awards in her career. She is one of the most iconic actresses in Bollywood industry and among the most famous heroines in Indian cinema.

Next year, she played show-stopper again at the Lakme Fashion Week for Neeta Lulla. In 2012, she came back on the ramp at Delhi Couture Week 2012 for Sabyasachi Mukherjee, fashion designer.
